GOSHEN END OF ACADEMIC SESSION SPEECH DELIVERED BY THE PROPRIETRESS ON THE 15th JULY 2016 AT ADORA HOUSE, PORTHARCOURT
It is a privilege to welcome you all to the first end of academic session of D’ Great Goshen Montessori School. Our gathering together today is historic aswe all are here to celebrate a true vision rooted in Genesis 45: 10 – 11 and Isaiah 61: 4. We therefore thank God who brought us into the land of Goshen to run with the vision. Goshen as the School is popularly called is a symbol of fruitfulness, abundance, green vegetation and essentially divine exemption that started a little with just sixteen (16) pupils in September, 2015 but today we are witness of the fulfillment of Isaiah 60 : 22. The school vision is reflected in our endless pursuit of excellence, diligence, honesty, creativity, and character development in every child through total commitment to Montessori and Bloom Taxonomy learning experiences. These core values as symbol of our cultural identity are radical approaches to what we believe in knowledge investments.
In Goshen, we are driven by this passion to train and educate our Goshenians to become nation builders of tomorrow– as doctors, engineers, scientists, accountants, lawyers, sportsmen and political leaders who shall undertake the reconstruction of the Nigerian economy and contribute to global economy. This indeed is what we mean ‘the generation of great minds’.
Chairman Sir, I wish to passionately seize this opportunity to kindly presents the Goshen sterling achievements in chronicle in our drive to raise generation of great minds:
Academic Excellence
In pursuit of the vision, the School has remarkably improved in the teaching and learning experiences through commitment to its culture and standards. Chairman Sir, the School has achieved a marked difference in pupils’ performance and academic achievement in contrast to other terms. More importantly, our basic 5 pupils have meritoriously distinguished themselves and brought honour to the School in various common entrance examinations held in renowned Schools. Despite all odds, the School almost recorded 100 percent in all common entrance examinations. One of the best graduating pupils today scored 278 out of 300 in Seven Day Adventist entrance examination held in Abia State and was 2nd overall best. This was followed by other successful pupils that pooled higher scores in the same examination. Again, our pupil was 6th overall best in Cantoky International School common entrance examination. We heartily congratulate our pupils for their superlative performance. Sir, we assure you and our beloved parents that we are not yet satisfied as our passion for success of every child is a lifelong project of the School.
Children Day Celebration
As our tradition to offer every child opportunity to explore, adventure and maximize their hidden talents, the School’s Children Day Celebration was supported by Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) Porthacourt to showcase our pupils’ motor skills and extra – curricula talents. Our pupils’ uncommon performance attracted gifts from NTA and Airtel Telecommunication Company reps. The School presentation was the overall best amongst other notable Schools in Rivers State.
Excursion and Visit to Corporate Organizations
As part of our academic and extra – curricula tradition, the School had its excursion tours in Dufil Foods, the producers of Indomie, NTA and others in Porthacourt to give our pupils total education. In D’ Great Goshen Montessori School, our commitment to knowledge investments is rooted in a combination of classroom – based education and experiential learning of every child. Our pupils had a great day and their experience of how the industry and Government Agency works added value to their learning behaviour.
Staff Salary and Welfare
In D’ Great Goshen Montessori School, we believe our staff welfare and on-time payment of salary is our first concern in achieving the core values of the School. The morale of our staff is high and it can be seen from the performance of our pupils in diverse learning levels. The School commitment to staff welfare has been a strong motivation that eventually translated into our pupils’ superlative performance. Permit me to graciously thank all the staff for their commitment, resilience, and patience in achieving these great feats.
Facility Upgrade and Learning Environment
Our unique environment with high quality Cambridge learning resources makes every child member of the learning family. In our efforts to enhance the learning experiences of pupils, the School expanded the learning environment; provide two additional Air Conditioners and desks in classrooms, instructional materials and projector.
Furthermore, the Computer Stimulation Project (CSP) is embarked upon by the School to create and expose our pupils to Information Technology and Communication (ITC) learning. In order to get it better, a contract has been awarded to an IT firm to create the School website and install internet facility. The project when completed will provide essential services such as:
- use for stimulation and learning for experience
- computer Based Examination for Basic 3 -5 and JSS students
- Online posting of students Results
- staff renewal training programmes
- information sharing with parents and the local business environment
Parent – School Partnership
Education in Goshen is a joint venture relationship with parents. Thus, we are willing to partner with parents to bring in their professional experience, knowledge and skills to the building of a solid educational foundation for our children. Our parents’ understanding is appreciable, commendable but let me use this occasion to encourage our parents never to be tired investing in their children education. Education at all levels is long term investment with resultant transformative power for the children and parents better future. For the education of Goodluck, EbeleJonathan Former President, Nigeria brought the parents great honour and lived in Aso Rock. In Goshen, we still believe, yours can be one of such great leaders in Nigeria and beyond. The management, staff and pupils are ever grateful to all our parents for their supports especially in making the first end of session party a huge success for the graduands. Once again, we call on our parents to help canvass and market the School to their friends as we launch the flyer today for the 2016 / 2017 academic session.
Thank you and I wish you all the best of today’s event
God bless you all
